The Alpha Omega Cohort comprises 4,837 patients who were recruited from 32 hospitals in the Netherlands.
The average Alpha Omega patient
Patients are between 60 and 80 (average 69) years of age, mostly male (78%) with a verified history of myocardial infarction during 10 (average 4) years prior to study enrollment. Most patients receive state-of-the-art antihypertensive, antithrombotic and lipid-modifying agents.
Of the patients, 78% is male, 24% is obese, 21% has diabetes, 42% has low physical activity and 17% smokes.
